Learning by Doing has been supporting teachers all over Victoria and southern New South Wales for over 30 years. We travel to your school with specialty mobile woodwork benches for the children, enough tools for every child and ‘box loads’ of learning and enjoyment. We design models that fit with your curriculum themes and requirements ie: Forces, sustainability, fairy tales, push pull, the gold mines, electricity etc. If we do not have a model to suite your topic, we will design one. This is our expertise.
We have delivered programs in over 300 schools, from kindergarten through to year 10 students. We have also done specialty programs for teachers - professional development and worked with many ‘high level’ corporations.

We come to you
Our creative woodworking and electronix workshops provide a unique opportunity for children from Kinder through to year 9 and beyond, to learn, grow, discover and experiment in a fully supervised and safe (100% hand’s on) program. Children discover the joy, excitement and satisfaction of “Learning by Doing”. Teachers are required to ‘sit back, relax and enjoy (build a model too, if you choose).
Programs are delivered in your school. All we need is either a ‘cleared out’ classroom, hall, GPR etc. We bring professional portable woodwork benches, tools, wood, hardware etc. Sufficient for every child (up to 36 kids per group). We will convert your classroom into a woodwork room within 30 minutes. (Room is left clean on completion). Our expertise is matching and presenting a program that will work with your inquiry unit - ( toys, how things work, inventions, sustainability, creativity, safety, the gold rush days, solar power, fairy-tails etc). Just tell us your theme, and we will send you a sample design brief for you to consider.
Bookings: Send us your enquiry with any questions. We will send back info plus a costing. If all ok, choose a date that works for you, fill out booking form and we will send back a confirmation. Simple.

(Price depending on length of workshops, number of children, if electrical components are used and distance your school is from our office/workshop in the Dandenong Ranges.) Includes: wood, equipment, any breakages, travel to and from your school and a specialty – woodwork for kids, $20M public liability insurance cover.) Instructors hold current working with Children card / VIT registration and are fully vaxxed.
